Available in Switzerland, until a definitive ceasefire in Ukraine

An immersive insight into the last hours of 13-year-old Sasha’s life in a boarding school for children deprived of parental care. He is one of the lucky ones: an American family has finally adopted him. Today he will move to another country forever, although something is holding him back.

In support of the Ukrainian people and the country’s artists living the tragic consequences of the war, the Locarno Film Festival in agreement with the producers and the director offer a platform for the free screening on its official website of the short film Papyni krosivky (Dad's Sneakers), presented during Locarno74 in the Pardi di domani International competition.

The film by Ukrainian director Olha Zhurba explores the topic of our roots and what binds us to them, drawing these rich themes out of the story of 13-year-old Sasha, who is about to leave the country after being adopted by an American family. A tender homage to Ukraine.

Papyni krosivky will be available until a definitive ceasefire in Ukraine is officially ratified

At the same time, its diffusion will be linked to a fundraising campaign aimed at supporting the population in this dramatic and distressing moment.

We invite you to donate for Swiss solidarity
