During the Shah’s regime, Mohsen Makhmalbaf, a seventeen-year-old boy fighting for democracy alongside a young girl, ends up disarming a policeman serving the totalitarian regime. During the incident, the policeman and Makhmalbaf wound each other, and the girl manages to escape. Twenty years later, when Makhmalbaf is a 37-year-old director and places an ad in the newspaper for the casting of Hello Cinema (1995), the ex-policeman goes to Makhmalbaf’s house and sends him a message through his youngest daughter, Hana, asking for a role in the film. Makhmalbaf decides to make a movie of their first encounter twenty years ago...
