Born in Tehran in 1984, Abtin Sarabi is a filmmaker, photographer and musician. As a teenager, he already practiced documentary and staged photography. He studied Eastern philosophy and painting at the University of Tehran and made his first short films, photography series and video installations in France, at the L’institut supérieur des arts in Toulouse and at Le Fresnoy. Critics often describe his works, which feature symbolism and mythological references, as “poetic cinema”.
