In the small swiss town of St.Gallen there is a café for seniors that hasn’t changed in over 27 years. The calming background music is as inviting as the extraordinary decoration. Being a one-man operation, the host Ernst Vogel doesn’t only offer coffee and cake, also blood pressure monitors can be ordered over the counter. Soon Vogel will retire and his aging guests will lose their cosy café. One last time Vogel will sing carols and celebrate Christmas with his regulars.

Kosovo 1998: The young Serbian girl Dunja and her secret Albanian boyfriend Amir are dreaming of a life together far away from the Kosovo-Conflict. When Dunja finds out that she’s pregnant she decides to run away to her aunt in Switzerland. Amir promises to follow as soon as possible. Heavily pregnant Dunja tries to settle in Switzerland while waiting for Amir. Suddenly she can’t reach him anymore. She tries to stay positive despite the worsening news about Kosovo where war has broken out. However, when Amir doesn’t show up in Zurich on the promised day, Dunja has to confront the truth.
