Une inondation oblige les policiers escortant une jeune condamnée à mort à s’arrêter dans un couvent isolé. L’une des religieuses se convainc de l’innocence de la jeune femme. Intrigue policière à huis clos, à l’atmosphère nocturne, où s’affrontent des personnages aux identités ambiguës.
