Der Roman den bereits Sjöström verfilmt hat, wird ganz sachlich in der norddeutschen Heidelandschaft gedreht. Als ausgestossene, uneheliche Mutter und Magd stösst das «Mädchen vom Moorhof» auf viele Vorurteile. Sirk würdigt den Einfluss von Dreyer.
