Closer to Life, also in 2021

Solidarity does not expire. On the contrary, it expands and continues, without stopping. Such is the status of Closer to Life, the project that connects audiences with auteur cinema, and brings the latter to cinemas. As a result of direct observation of the international situation and the difficulties faced by the culture sector and film industry throughout the autumn, the Locarno Film Festival and la Mobiliare decided, with the support of the participating cinemas, to go from 20 to 21. The project that took shape at Locarno 2020 thanks to the commitment of the Festival’s main sponsor will not come to an end on December 31 as originally planned, but continue until the end of the new – and hopefully brighter – year.

The Locarno Film Festival and laMobiliare looked for a solution that would lighten the load of these complicated weeks, allow those who have vouchers to use them at a better time, and support the films, the theaters and the audience. The 78 participating cinemas, which you can find on the project’s website www.closertolife.ch, immediately embraced the idea and are therefore ready to let people use the 10,000+ vouchers offered by laMobiliare and the Festival all through 2021.
