Day 4 | Today's Program

Giona A. Nazzaro's Summary

When territory and history are reflected on the large screen of Piazza Grande, it is an indescribable emotion. As if two worlds blended together and created a brand-new formula. Monte Verità is the celebration of a long journey – it not only celebrates a piece of history that was very meaningful for a lot of people, but also places it in a contemporary perspective. This new critical perspective was found thanks to the film director, Stefan Jäger, his admirable cast, and his creative team, who question our present. It is always a powerful sensation when the future comes to visit us from the past. Like The Terminator. James Cameron’s cyberpunk masterpiece is coming back to life in Piazza Grande. Produced by Gale Anne Hurd, the movie made Schwarzenegger a world-renowned star. On the other hand, according to Serge Daney, the past is never ’past’; at times it has not even finished ‘passing’. What better proof of this than by re-watching The Mill on the Po, Alberto Lattuada’s masterpiece admirably restored by the Cineteca di Bologna?
