Online and on-site
On October 24-26, the Mexican Academy, which is part of the Morelia International Film Festival and curated by project managers Sandra Gomez and Marion Klotz, will take place online and feature nine young talents from Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Honduras and Venezuela. Then, on November 24-27, eleven people from Brazil, Chile, Peru, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Mexico will take part in the Brazilian Academy in São Paulo, curated by project manager Julia Duarte and organized in association with BrLab, with the support of Projeto Paradiso, Spcine and LatAmCinema.

A Reference Point
A core element of the Locarno Film Festival’s training and networking program for years, the Industry Academies have guided dozens of young professionals through the intricacies of working in the film industry, and now some of them are part of important entities like MUBI, Netflix and the International Film Festival Rotterdam. “The Locarno Industry Academy has become a major reference point as a training program”, says Marion Klotz, Industry Academy Project Manager. “This applies both internationally and in Locarno, and it attracts young emerging professionals as well as seasoned industry veterans. We are proud of the work done by the Locarno team and by the various project managers and regional partners, for their talent for renewal and adapting to the realities and challenges of each region, which is the defining trait of the Industry Academy.
