Industry Office: acquisition of five films selected for Locarno

The Industry Office of the Festival del film Locarno is delighted to announce that five films selected for the 2011 edition, three of them in the Concorso internazionale, have been acquired by various international sales agents.

World rights for the new film by Japanese director Hitoshi Matsumoto Saya Zamurai  (Scabbard Samurai, Japan) have been acquired by Urban Distribution International. The film will screen as an international première on Friday August 12 on the Piazza Grande, with the director present, a guest of the Festival for the tribute to his work (with Symbol and Big Man Japan, both represented by Urban Distribution International).

Intramovies has taken world rights to Sette opere di misericordia (Seven Acts of Mercy, Italiy/Romania) by the brothers Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio, a film showing as a sneak preview in the Concorso internazionale.

Just as the Locarno selection was announced, Wide Management bought world rights to two films in the Concorso internazionale: Hashoter (Policeman, Israel), a first film by Nadav Lapid and screening at Locarno as an international première and Crulic – Drumul spre dincolo (Crulic – The Path to Beyond, Romania/Poland), an animation film by Anca Damian, at Locarno as a world première.

One documentary in world première at Locarno has found a sales agent: Swiss film The Substance – Albert Hofmann’s LSD by Martin Witz, in the Concorso Cineasti del presente, has been acquired by Autlook Filmsales.

The Industry Days take place from 6-8 August 2011.
