The Moving Ahead Award for the Best Film 2019, worth 5,000 Swiss francs, is awarded to THE GIVERNY DOCUMENT (Single Channel) by Ja’Tovia M. Gary, USA/France.
The Moving Ahead jury awarded Ja’Tovia M. Gary because “Gary’s film is a contemplation of the body, of blackness, performance, film form, and political urgency. A rigorous and exciting measure of the capacity of cinema to act as a radical craft; the film works across disciplines and history as revolutionary art”.
The award-winning film will be screened on Saturday August 17 at 11 am at the Cinema Rialto 1.
The awards will be presented tonight at the 9.30 pm Piazza Grande screening.
