In 2016, Open Doors started for the first time a 3-year focus cycle, dedicated to 8 countries in South Asia: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
This same year Open Doors also reformatted its program, to include three activities: the Hub, the Lab and the Open Doors Screenings.
The activities took place during the 69th Locarno Film Festival.
The concept of the South Asian focus has been developed following field surveys and studies, with the contribution of Clinik.Kathmandu (Nepal).
The Open Doors Hub is an international coproduction platform for 8 projects selected from the focus region.
