Fourteen-year-old Vanaja, the daughter of a drunken fisherman, goes to work for a rich lady, Rama Devi, who teaches her to dance. The lady's son, Shekher, comes home from America to run for political elections and sexual chemistry immediately ignites between him and Vanaja. But matters suddenly take an ugly turn when Vanaja corrects his mistake on a simple math equation in front of his friends. Humiliated, Shekher rapes her and Vanaja gets pregnant. When Rama Devi finds out, she punishes her son, insisting that Vanaja must have an abortion. But Vanaja decides she will have the baby.
