Suraj Baba is a sadhu, a Hindu holy man. He has renounced worldly possessions and withdrawn to live in a grotto some 3,000 meters high up in the Himalaya mountains. After eight years of isolation and meditation, he is prepared to risk exposing himself to the world again. During the Kumbh Mela that, which brings together 70 million pilgrims every twelve years, Suraj decides to join the other sadhus in a pilgrimage lasting several months, before reconfirming his renunciation vows. Over the course of this journey, Indian mysticism is illuminated by the sincerity of this sage who no longer wants to be one.
