Pardi di domani

The Way We Were

Four very different tales about depicting love, accompanying us towards the end of the Pardi di domani screenings, now in their penultimate day.

Competing in Concorso nazionale, Euridice, Euridice by Lora Mure-Ravaud is a 40 minute film reimagining the Orpheus and Euridice myth in contemporary Rome. A tale of lost love and its aftermath, the film is striking for its script, direction and the performance of Ondina Quadri as the main character. Less is definitely more in Tako se je končalo poletje (That's How the Summer Ended) by Matjaž Ivanišin. Like a Carver short novel, this Corti d’autore competing film depicts a tale of possible love set at the end of summer. The atmosphere, the scarcity of dialogue and the bodies of the main characters portray feelings we all have encountered in our lives. HEARTBEAT by Michèle Flury is a tale of love within friendship. Cleverly shot in counterpoint to the tough topic it addresses, the second Swiss film of the slot tackles group dynamics among four young friends facing the experience of abortio none of them has gone through. AirHostess-737 by Thanasis Neofotistos is the final chapter of the trilogy encompassing Patision Avenue (2018) and Route-3 (2019). The film competing in Concorso internazionale is a tale of denied love of a mother towards a daughter who must face the reality of facts during the saddest of times. A dark comedy at 30,000 feet, the film is the most personal piece so far by one of the most interesting new Greek directors.
