Christian Jungen (*1973) is the film critic of Swiss newspaper NZZ am Sonntag and the president of the Swiss Film Critic's Association. He became interested in movies when he started working at the box office of an art–house cinema in his native town of Winterthur.
He started his career as film critic for the local newspaper Der Landbote and also reviewed films for Radio Eulach. He studied Italian literature, history and film at the University of Zurich. He wrote his PhD on the Cannes Film Festival.
He is the founder of a movie club and the author of several essays on film marketing so as of Hollywood in Canne$, die Geschichte einer Hassliebe (edited by Schüren). He attends the Locarno Film Festival since 1995 and regularly covers the Festivals of Cannes, Berlin and Venice. Jungen lives in Zurich. He is currently writing the biography of former festival director and filmmaker Moritz de Hadeln. His favourite film directors are Clint Eastwood and Ang Lee.
