If a million people see my movie, I hope they see a million different movies.
Film allows us to travel in time without leaving the present and challenge our beliefs to embrace change. Especially in these unprecedented times where we are all practicing physical distancing, movies are an important tool to bring us together while leaving room to build our own perspectives of the world around us.
Locarno 2020 is for many reasons a very special year. It’s the year that marks our 40 years anniversary with the Locarno Film Festival – a shared history that is built on continuous development. This year also marks the launch of its historical archive and we are thrilled to discover never seen before gems with you on a new platform that will be announced on 4 August.
At the heart of the festival are the people coming together for auteur cinema.
Locarno 2020 – For the Future of Films is bringing the magic of Piazza Grande and the iconic Prix du Public UBS winners into everyone’s home in Switzerland with the screening of “Il Pardo a casa tua” on RSI La 1 or Play RSI.
Looking back to the past and forward to the future, we are celebrating with the festival, with the region and with you. From 5 to 15 August 2020 film fans on social media will have the chance to win a special experience at Locarno74 in celebration of our longstanding partnership.
Take care of yourselves and your loved ones and enjoy the various initiatives in support of the film industry.
All the best,
To celebrate the 40 years of its Partnership with the Locarno Film Festival, UBS is to promote an online look back at the event’s historical archives. A treasury of images and memories from over the decades that holds innumerable discoveries and surprises in store.
A link from the Festival’s official website will take users to an online platform where they can browse dynamically through landmark historical moments of the event and of its long and fruitful Partnership with UBS. There will also be some very special content for those willing to try their luck — because the story of Locarno is also the story of the Partner who has stood side-by-side with the Festival for so long.
