Program for the 68° Festival del film Locarno announced

During today’s press conference, Wednesday 15 July, the official program for the 68° Festival del film Locarno was announced.

The awards to Andy Garcia (Leopard Club Award), Marlen Khutsiev (Pardo alla carriera) and Teco Celio (Premio Cinema Ticino) were also announced today.

Those attending Locarno will include Chantal Akerman, Sabine Azéma, Lionel Baier, Senta Berger, Marco Bellocchio, Júlio Bressane, Michael Cimino, Olivia Cooke, Clotilde Coureau, Philippe Falardeau, Alberto Fasulo, Cécile de France, Stéphane Goël, Bill Hader, Joanna Hogg, HONG Sangsoo, Patrick Huard, Anurag Kashyap, Marthe Keller, Udo Kier, Burghart Klaussner, Nadav Lapid, Philippe Le Guay, Milcho Manchevski, Mario Martone, Carmen Maura, MOON So-ri, Walter Murch, Edward Norton, Bulle Ogier, Clémence Poésy, Melvil Poupaud, Ben Rivers, Jerry Schatzberg, Barber Schroeder, Amy Schumer, Andrea Segre, Claire Simon, Isela Vega and Andrzej Zulawski.

Piazza Grande: 16 features and 3 short films screened on the Piazza Grande, the open-air cinema that can host up to 8,000 viewers every night.

Concorso internazionale: 18 feature films, 14 of them as world premieres, competing for the Pardo d'oro.

Concorso Cineasti del presente: the competition dedicated to new discoveries, consists of 14 first or second films.

Signs of Life: this new section explores cinema at the frontiers, with new narrative forms and formal innovations. 

Fuori concorso: for work from established masters and directors of international renown.

Pardi di domani: the competitions for short films.

Histoire(s) du cinéma: film history presented by its protagonists.

Retrospective: the retrospective is dedicated to Sam Peckinpah.

Open Doors: a focus on four countries of the Maghreb (Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia).
