Growing up in the Swiss Jura, Aurélie Mertenat initially trained as a graphic artist, but has also worked on numerous film productions, notably as a sound recorder for Yves Yersin, Christelle Lheureux and Richard Dindo. In 2010 she graduated in film from HEAD in Geneva, and has made several short films, both fiction and documentary, including La Maison de Cédric (2010), Toupie (2011) and Pinar ou la majesté des baleines (2011). In 2013 she joined Terrain Vague, a association of young filmmakers based in Lausanne.
