A French film critic, author and programmer, Antoine Thirion was born in 1981 and lives in Paris. He wrote for Cahiers du cinéma from 2001 to 2009 and he publishes in various magazines and collective works. In 2009 he founded Independencia where he is in charge of distribution and publishing activities. He has curated retrospectives at the Jeu de Paume (James Benning, Lav Diaz) and at the FID Marseille (Hong Sang-soo, Roger Corman, Isabelle Huppert) and joined the Cinéma du Réel selection committee in 2017. He is an occasional screenwriter and author, including of two projects with Raya Martin, How He Died Is Controversial in 2015 and UNdocumenta in 2016.
