Jason Bourne

There’s a foreign fighter at the border between Albania and Greece.
He doesn’t speak too much, just needs only one right punch to knock out his opponents.
An outcast who sometimes has nightmares, who remembers his past but still hasn’t found peace.
His name is Jason Bourne.

Nine years after The Bourne Ultimatum (winner of three Academy Awards) director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon reteam for another epic journey about survival and truth. In the new episode the most acclaimed spy is forced to come once more out of the shadow by his only friend Vicky who has discovered the Agency is planning something dangerous and lethal. Again. But this time there’s also retribution: who killed Jason’s father before he was recruited and brainwashed? And why?

Shot in Canary Islands, London, Berlin and Las Vegas, Jason Bourne proves to the audience the franchise is still alive, kicking and most important extremely actual. The most important issue of our times, the one which sets security versus privacy, is in fact the main story in the movie plot. Paul Greengrass realistic style guarantees the audience at least a couple of stunning action sequences, especially the opening one set in Athens. After all these years Matt Damon portraits his iconic character with passion and wisdom, supported by an amazing cast: other than returning Julia Stiles Jason Bourne adds Academy Awards winners Tommy Lee Jones and Alicia Vikander, the charisma of Vincent Cassel and a great promise like Riz Ahmed, already acclaimed in Nightcrawler and the HBO TV series The Night Of.

Forget James Bond or Ethan Hunt. Paul Greengrass approach to Bourne franchise today more than ever something completely different: entertainment comes from realism, from a look to our contemporary. This is the reason Jason Bourne is the most beloved anti-hero of modern american cinema.
