Swiss Red Cross: 150 Years Providing Greater Humanity
The Swiss Red Cross and its Locarno section have been presenting the mobile Red Cross exhibition at the Festival del film Locarno on via alla Ramogna, in order to celebrate its first 150 years of story providing greater humanity to the world.
Visitors to the exhibition can experience or even carry out the Red Cross work themselves. Through a series of short films, they can take a time machine and find out more about the SRC by travelling back to its foundation and even into the future.
Founded in Bern on 17 July 1866, the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is now the largest humanitarian organization in Switzerland, counting 500,000 members and 72,000 volunteers. The 24 cantonal associations, five rescue organizations and the institutions of the SRC are making use of this 150th anniversary in 2016 to come closer to people throughout the country. They want to show everyone all the services they provide in the service of humanity thanks to the support of their many sponsors.
