Open Doors: Screenings
Alsin udirdlaga (Remote Control)
After a senseless fight between his parents, teenager Tsog runs away from home and settles on the rooftop of a city apartment building.
A Bildungsroman, from the vast steppes of Mongolia to the contemporary urban landscape of its capital Ulaanbaatar, enriched with sensitive introspection on the feminine and on intergenerational relationships. This delicate, promising debut by Byamba Sakhya, whose documentary training comes through in his vivid attention for spaces and atmospheres and in his taste for naturalistic acting, almost exudes a whiff of Truffaut.
