Open Doors Screenings

From 2022 until 2024, the Open Doors Screenings section explores the diverse filmmaking of Latin America and the Caribbean. For the first year of the focus, the spotlight will be turned on Central America and the Caribbean.

The Open Doors Screenings are a non-competitive section of Locarno Film Festival, focusing from 2022 and for three years on the cinematographic and cultural universe of countries within Latin America and Caribbean.

The curated selection will propose several feature-length and short films to the public and industry audience at the Festival, who will also have the chance to meet the delegation in Locarno during the film presentations or professional activities.

The 2022 edition will focus on films and talents from Central America (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua) and the Caribbean Islands (Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The section is curated and therefore not subject to an official call for submissions.

The Open Doors Screenings will be presented from the 4th to the 13th of August. To discover more about dates, times and venues check out the official program.
