Day 1 | Today's Program

Here we are. We have been working for months to be here, all together, and celebrate Piazza Grande and cinema. Throughout these months, all the Locarno Film Festival collaborators have worked in unison for all of us to be back together again. At last, the program of the competitions and the other sections is there for the audience to see. We have bee piecing together the Festival’s mosaic, one tile at a time. Every element has been assessed and analyzed, drawing relationships with those that have gradually homed in. You, the audience, are going to discover it over the next days, but we would like that this program, in which we have poured all our love for the Festival,  is considered as a journey – and an atlas too – to set out for the discovery of the (yet unexplored?) territories of contemporary film. Finally yet most importantly, to propitiate this journey under the best auspices, we have Laetitia Casta, a star and performer blessed with an incredibly modern and elusive talent who, in her glaringly luminous presence, reaffirms the reasons of cinema. Cast off all moorings: we’re away!
