The best of Quentin

Retrospettiva Black Light - Jackie Brown

Among the many diseases that afflict film critics, there's one particularly harmful. Charts. It's just like a curse. Top 5, Best of whatever useless possible thing. For example, what about opening scenes. Well, thinking about the best five opening scenes in American movies, Jackie Brown (1997) must be between the second and fifth place (Touch of Evil, 1958, is number one, of course). Pam Grier walking through the airport, heading to her gate followed by a smooth and sexy tracking shot is one of the most accomplished moments in Quentin Tarantino’s career. There's an old dispute about Jackie Brown, quite idle, because there's no doubt that this beautiful homage to the 70s Blaxploitation is the best QT joint. Great cast, and not only the magnificent Pam, but also Samuel Jackson, Robert Forster, Bob De Niro – one of his best performances ever. Most of all, Tarantino was able to perfectly balance directing, writing and ego, also thanks to the mourned talent of Sally Menke, present for sure in a Top 5 editors chart.
