After the death of her beloved dog, Lolabelle, Laurie Anderson meditates on loss. The loss of family and friends, including her lifelong partner Lou Reed, and the loss of and idea of America, undermined by post 9/11 anguish. Somewhere between a diary, an essay, and a dreamy stream of conscousness, Heart of a Dog is an open heart confession about the unsuppressable desire of rebirth after pain.
