Matter Out of Place is a film about waste in remote areas and about people who are trying to clean up. Matter Out of Place is capturing the dispersion of garbage and is observing the Sisyphus-like work of garbage collectors and waste managers around the world.

Waste is a symbol of how mankind is developing, namely much more slowly than technologial progress would demand. We cannot yet deal with much of what is possible and commonplace today.
