Elie Grappe was born in 1994 in Lyon. After studying music at the Lyon National Conservatory, and theatre in high school, he enrolled at ECAL (University of Art and Design Lausanne) in the Cinema section in 2011. He graduated with first class honours in 2015.
In 2014 he directed Rehearsal, a short documentary selected in several festivals such as Amsterdam IDFA, Clermont-Ferrand and Krakow.
He directed in 2015 his diploma project, Suspendu, selected in more than sixty international festivals around the world, and co-directed a musical documentary with Timothée Zurbuchen, Hors Scène. He worked on the casting of Pearl (dir. Elsa Amiel) before to be the casting-director of Particles (dir. Blaise Harrison, selected in Cannes 2019 - Quinzaine des Réalisateurs).
In 2016 he begun the writing of his first feature-film, Olga. Olga is co-written with Raphaëlle Desplechin and participated to Emergence (2018) and Atelier Grand Nord (2019).
