Open Doors Consultancy
Covid-19 FAQ: Open Doors 2020
Following the current global health crisis, the Locarno Film Festival will not be taking place in its usual form. However, Locarno 2020 – For the Future of Films will keep offering support to the worldwide film community. Open Doors marries the vision of the 2020 edition by its own definition.
The whole Open Doors section is being developed into an online version this year, comprehensive of its different branches, to remain active throughout and beyond the crisis.
The remote services such as the Consultancy and Hotline initiatives - directed to both South and Southeast Asian countries - remain as active as ever, offering support to projects and film professionals thanks to calls for submissions and feedback through emails.
WHAT IS IT?
The Open Doors Consultancy offers remote (online) one-to-one professional advice by international experts for film projects at different stages of development. It’s dedicated to producers and filmmakers who seek support on specific challenges regarding one of the following topics:
- co-production and financing strategy
- international distribution (sales, festival,...)
- legal aspects & contracts
The program will open 3 calls for entries each year, selecting around 8 projects per call that will benefit from consultancy, chosen by a committee of international experts.
The online consultancy services will be provided to the selected project-holders by experts of the abovementioned fields. For every call, the consultancy to the selected projects are foreseen to happen the following month of the selection.
This service is addressed to the community of filmmakers and producers in the Asian regions in focus at Open Doors in recent years: South Asia and Southeast Asia + Mongolia.
The next Consultancy sessions of 2020 will be dedicated to 16 countries in South and South East Asia + Mongolia: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Mongolia, The Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
