Jung Jae-Young in “Jigeumeun matgo geuttaeneun teullida” (Right Now, Wrong Then)

Killing time means filling a void, and filling a void in a movie is something that only a great actor can do. Because in Jigeumeun matgo geuttaeneun teullida Jung Jae-young had no chances to hide into crowded scenes or behind a massive music score – he had to face the camera armed only with words, gestures, gazes. The double structure of Hong Sangsoo's movie was also a challenge, permitting him to compare to himself and to go even deeper, for example underlining minimal tone differences in the same dialogue. Right now, right then.

His perfectly balanced performance seemed to be the only way to tell this story, a casual encounter which drives to several, possible consequences – as everybody of us perfectly knows, because that's not only cinema. That's life. Jung Jae-young let feelings flow across the audience and the Concorso internazionale jury, without any excess. His awards makes a combo with the Pardo d'oro given to the director for the movie. Another casual, well deserved encounter we are hoping will give soon birth to another movie.
