Pardo per la miglior regia a Andrzej Zulawski con Cosmos
Almost fifteen years without a movie by Andrzej Zulawski. It was not fair, because the director of Possession (screened Fuori concorso in 1981 edition of Festival del film Locarno) has been one of the most interesting figure of European cinematography for at least two decades, since his outstanding debut The Third Part of the Night in 1971.
The Pardo for Best Director conferred by the jury of the Concorso internazionale of Locarno68 is the best way to push this refined author not to wait too long to come back behind the camera. Cosmos is an existentialist thriller, a black comedy and above all a different way to represent the grotesque smallness of the human being, just like another great Polish director named Roman Polanski did. Something that Zulawski explored in great movies such as La Femme publique, L’Amour braque and La Fidélité. A great mystery but that will probably remain unsolved and that we hope to investigate more, thanks to this outstanding film-maker.Alessandro De Simone
