“Portrait photography is too often an exercise aimed at deleting all sort of imperfections and oddities so to create an edulcorated image of ourselves. With The Leopards of Locarno we intend to produce the exact opposite and to celebrate the marks that make each of us different.”
Michele Jannuzzi, creator of the project
“Julia” has been unveiled during the Solothurner Filmtage, it is the first image to announce the 69th Festival del film Locarno.
The Anglo-Swiss agency Jannuzzi Smith have undertaken a photographic project to portray the people of Festival del film Locarno. For the last 2 years, Jannuzzi Smith created portraits of cinema-goers, critics, actors, directors and people from the many other walks of life who visit the Festival. The purpose is to highlight the myriad leopards circulating discretely within the Festival.
