Fernando Epstein was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1969. In 1998 he obtained a degree in Communication at the Catholic University of Montevideo. Since 2001 he has served as producer, executive producer and editor for many films.
All the films he produced were premiered at major film festivals: 25 Watts in Rotterdam 2001, where it received a Tiger Award. Whisky (Juan Pablo Rebella and Pablo Stoll) in Cannes 2004, Un certain regard. It was awarded with the FIPRESCI AWARD and the Prix Du Regard Original. La Perrera in Rotterdam 2006. Awarded with a Tiger Award. Acné, Quinzaine des Realizateurs 2008. Gigante, at the Official Competition in the 2009 Berlinale, it received the Alfred Bauer Award, Best Opera Prima Award and a Silver Bear, Hiroshima premiered in Toronto, 2009.
As a minority co producer he participated in The Minder (2006) and A Mysterious World (2011) directed by Rodrigo Moreno, produced by Rizoma Films (Arg), Porfirio (2011) directed by Alejandro Landes premiered at la Quinzaine des Realizateurs 2011.
