Though she was born in Switzerland, Laurine has also lived in Russia and Scotland. Despite growing up without a TV, her interest for film goes back a long way. Her end-of-high-school dissertation was about the objectification of female actresses in classical Hollywood cinema. She later on went on to study English and Russian languages and literature as well as film theory, which gave her ample opportunity to explore the links between film and literature, in Nabokov’s writings in particular. During her studies, she was involved as a committee member of the University of Lausanne’s ciné-club and, before that, as a committee member of the Russian Speaking Society at the University of Aberdeen, where her tasks included film programming. She currently works in a private economic association in the Canton of Vaud, where she is in charge of the local integration of international companies.
