I'm Nuno. I joined the portuguese distribution company Alambique in 2016 to help with the launch of an innovative, in-house label, called Cinema BOLD. The goal was to release “different films, in a different way”. Films we like and feel should be distributed in Portugal, but which would be very hard to release in a more traditional way. Through a day-and-date strategy, and considering the different platforms available, we developed a tailor-made distribution approach, always adjusted to each title. We allow ourselves to consider films of all genres, nationalities, shapes, and forms, and that means I get to discover a lot of exciting new talents, which is one of my favourite parts of the job. So far, under Cinema Bold, we’ve released over 20 films and nearly half of them are from first-time filmmakers.
I’m passionate about cinema, and I still have a lot to learn, but after studying screenwriting and script development and then having landed on distribution, I think it’s fair to say that for now, I’m most happy when working at either of these ends of the filmmaking process.
