By train
Numerous international trains arrive in Ticino every hour from the gateway Zurich, stopping in Bellinzona (with direct connections to Lake Maggiore) and every morning without stops, from Basel direct to Locarno.
Traveling by train in Switzerland is comfortable and very reliable; thanks to the world's best rail system. The new direct connection to Bellinzona allows you to travel in absolute comfort. Numerous international trains arrive in Ticino every hour from the gateways Basel und Zurich, stopping in Bellinzona (with direct connections to Locarno, on Lake Maggiore). Also the picturesque and romantic journey with the Centovalli Railway, links Ticino (from Locarno to Domodossola) directly with French Switzerland (Brig, Lausanne & Geneva).

By car
A modern and efficient motorway runs through all of Ticino (A2). The St. Gotthard-tunnel allows travelers to forgo climbing the majestic alpine passes. In season, you may also enjoy the picturesque ride over the Pass. For a more northeasterly direction, the San Bernardino highway (A13) begins just north of Bellinzona and links Ticino to Eastern Switzerland, Bavaria and Austria. Ticino is also easily accessible from French Switzerland.

By plane (Official Airline: Swiss)
The Lugano International Airport (located in Agno, 15 minutes only from Lugano city, and 40 minutes from Locarno by car) makes sure that the Canton Ticino is connected to Europe and the rest of the world. Lugano Airport stands out for its short check-in time (20 minutes only), guaranteeing comfortable and easy travelling. Shuttle Bus

The shuttle bus service guarantees regular connections between the center of Lugano and the airport from 08.00 AM 6.30 PM (from 10.00 AM to 6.30 PM Saturday and Sunday), scheduled to match the arrival and departure of air traffic. Reservation is required.

PostBus Switzerland

The PostBus Switzerland will be at the Festival as a transportation partner. As well as providing the shuttle buses to/from Piazza Grande and to/from hotels, plus late night return bus services from Locarno to the surrounding area, PostBus Switzerland will also be taking care of VIP transfers to/from Milan Malpensa Airport.


By bike
SOS Ticino – Associazione SOS, 
in collaboration with the Festival, organizes a free bike hire service in Largo Zorzi. For more information:

With VELOSPOT bike sharing you can jump on and off a bike in 15 spots of the city: buy a light daily card (10 CHF, payment by credit card only, first 30 min. included, 2 CHF/hour starting from the 31st minute) or premium (20 CHF,  payment by credit card or cash, no time limit). Flyer provides free e-bike that can be rented in by anyone in Largo Zorzi for the time limit of one hour. All accredited delegates have the chance to rent e-bikes for the duration of a full day. An identity document is required to collect and return the e-bikes.


By bus
The PardoBus 1 is a free service that transits between Piazza Grande, the Park&Ride and the Spazio Cinema. This service is available from 8.30 AM to 9.30 PM with a ride every 20 minutes and a special ride 20 minutes after the first and the second screening in Piazza Grande. PardoBus 2, 3 and 4 are exclusive services for accredited delegates only.

The last bus rides from Locarno Via della Pace are: towards Muralto-Minusio-Tenero at 11.41 PM, towards Solduno-Ascona at 00.17 AM, towards Orselina-Brione s / Minusio at 11.58 PM, towards the Vallemaggia at 00.14  AM (Mon-Thu) and 00.33 AM (Fri-Sat-Sun) and towards Brissago 01.08 AM (Fri-Sat).

Every night, about 20 minutes after the two screenings in Piazza Grande, there is a special PostBus departure to Ascona, Brissago, Bignasco, Orselina, Minusio and Tenero. This service will be available only if the scheduled F.A.R.T. service has already ended.

Centovalli Locarno – Intragna
During the week, the last ride to Intragna leaves at 11:07 PM and during the weekend at 00:07 AM. All evening rides will be replaced by a bus service.


By train
After the screenings in Piazza Grande, the last trains to Lugano and Chiasso (with connection in Giubiasco) leave at 11:35 PM and 00:05 AM (Mon-Sat) and at 03.05 AM (Fri-Sat). The last trains to Bellinzona leave at 11:35 PM, 00:05 AM, 00:35 AM and 01:35 AM (Mon-Fri) and at 03.05 AM (Fri-Sat).

Funicolare Locarno – Orselina (Madonna del Sasso) 
During the Festival the funicular service is available from 8.05 AM to 00.35 AM.  It operates every 15 minutes from 8.05 AM to 8.05 PM and every 30 minutes from 8.05 PM to 00.35 AM.
