(Those who Desire) Switzerland, Spain  ·  2018  ·  DCP  ·  Color  ·  24'  ·  o.v. Spanish

In the South of Spain, a multicolored pigeon race will be won not by the fastest bird, but the one who will be able to seduce a female pigeon and fly alongside her the longest.

Winner of the Pardino d’oro Swiss Life 2018 for the Pardi di domani National Competition

In between the countryside and the industrial suburbs, a group of men of different generations are preparing a contest. Among them, a young guy with a white coat seems a bit nervous. His life is ahead. In a few shots only, Elena López Riera delicately sets the context and the rules of an eternal but fragile society that places its fate and hopes into the coloured wings of a bunch of pigeons. Realism and magic arise with an equal grace and poetry in this beautiful film that won the Pardino d’Oro in 2018.
