A crucible of future talent, the Pardi di domani section screens shorts and medium-length films (not more than 59 minutes in lenght) by independent filmmakers or film school students who have not yet tried their hand at feature films. The section has two separate competitions: one limited to recent Swiss productions, the other international, featuring films from all over the world.


Pardino d’oro Swiss Life for the best Swiss short film 

CHF 10,000 – awarded to the best short film in the Pardi di domani National Competition.

CHF 10,000 – awarded to the best short film in the Pardi di domani International Competition.

Pardino d’argento Swiss Life for a Swiss short film 

CHF 5,000  – for a film in the Pardi di domani National Competition.

Medien Patent Verwaltung AG Prize

Sponsored by Medien Patent Verwaltung AG, in the form of subtitling in three central European languages 

The Junior Jury of Cinema & Gioventù – an initiative organized by Bellinzona’s Castellinaria – Young Film Festival on behalf of the Dipartimento dell’educazione, della cultura e dello sport (DECS) of the Canton Ticino, will award two prizes, worth 1,500 CHF, to the best Swiss and international short film of the Pardi di domani section.  


The selected short films eligible for the European Film Awards 2020 will compete for the Locarno Short Film Nomination
