Flashback #12: “Michael Haneke”

Cinema away from consolation. Cinema lived through the merciless coldness of a gaze. Cinema like a scalpel, inserted into the reality of human relationships. Many of the demons which will make Michael Haneke's cinema great are already there in 1989, when the Austrian director debuts on the big screen with Der siebente Kontinent. Locarno immediately becomes aware of that and Haneke is awarded with his first international prize: the Pardo di bronzo.
