The Swiss focus at the Festival del film Locarno is to be re-organised and henceforth presented by the Solothurn Film Festival in collaboration with SWISS FILMS.
The Swiss focus at the Festival del film Locarno, known as Appellations Suisse, will be relaunched and expanded. The Solothurn Film Festival will henceforth be responsible for selecting the films while SWISS FILMS will present a round-table discussion involving international film critics. The programme will be called “Panorama Suisse”. Providing its international platform the Locarno Festival can best serve the interests of Swiss cinema.
Since 2000 Swiss cinema has had a presence at the Festival del film Locarno in the Appellations Suisse programme. On the occasion of its fifteenth birthday, this programme is to be restructured and will in future be known as Panorama Suisse. The promotional agency SWISS FILMS, hitherto responsible for selecting this section’s films has, in concert with the Locarno Festival, decided to reformat the section and entrust the selection of films to the Solothurn Film Festival. A Swiss fiction or documentary feature, will be programmed every day. SWISS FILMS will organize a new round-table allowing a public discussion of the films selected for Panorama Suisse and the Swiss films featuring in the various Festival sections.
The Festival del film Locarno will thus offer an international and internationally recognised platform for Swiss film production. Films shown under Panorama Suisse banner will screen daily at the FEVI, the venue dedicated to the Concorso internazionale, and will thus benefit from such an outstanding showcase.
Additionally, Swiss professionals will be able to benefit from a new collaboration between the Industry Days and SWISS FILMS, giving them the opportunity to further develop their contacts with the international industry attending Locarno.
Panorama Suisse is a collaboration between the Festival del film Locarno, the Solothurn Film Festival and SWISS FILMS.
The 67th edition of the Festival del film Locarno will take place 6 – 16 August 2014. The Panorama Suisse programme and the whole Festival line-up will be announced on July 16.Press Office
