The works in progress will be accessible to industry badge holders only. Before each screening the producers and directors will introduce their film to the various international sales agents, funders, distributors and festival programmers.

Nadia Dresti, Delegate to the Artistic Direction and Head of International: “Thanks to the cooperation with the Polish Film Institute, we are pleased to welcome the producers of the selected work in progress. We are confident that the event will awaken the interest of both sales agents and programmers attending the Industry Days. From upcoming to more established directors, Polish cinema has always had a strong presence at major festivals around the world, this year in particular in Locarno. We are proud to have shown Cosmos by Andrzej Zulawski at last year’s Concorso internazionale”.

Katarzyna Mazurkiewicz, Polish Film Institute’s Head of International: “Taking part in the First Look gives the Polish upcoming films the unique opportunity of getting attention and distinction. We are very happy with the Polish projects selected for the First Look - they show diversity and represent different genres. We hope that the Film Industry attending this years’ Locarno International Film Festival will find this selection exciting.

On August 8, the jury, composed by Kerem Ayan (Istanbul International Film Festival’s Artistic Director), Cameron Bailey (Toronto International Film Festival’s Artistic Director) and Bero Beyer (Rotterdam International Film Festival’s Artistic Director) will be handing out an award worth 65,000 euros in post-production services, sponsored by Cinelab Romania, as well as an award worth 5,500 euros in advertising, donated by Le Film Français.
