The Day of biopics, new Polish cinema and old classic movies

Lorenzo Buccella and Carlo Chatrian

The turning point of #Locarno69 continues to tread the path of the biopic with Maria Scharder's Vor der Morgenröte, in Piazza Grande, and La idea de un lago by Milagros Mumenthaler, who returns to Locarno in the Concorso internazionale after having won the Pardo d'oro in 2011. Another German-language film is Der traumhafte Weg, by Angela Schanelec. There's also room for new Polish cinema, the protagonist of the First Look selection and part of today's line-up with The Sun, the Sun Blinded Me, by Anka and Wilhelm Sasnal. Locarno is also rediscovering films and today's names are really big: Dario Argento, director of Suspiria, and Martin Scorsese, director of Boxcar Bertha.
