IBI by Andrea Segre at the Royal Palace of Caserta („Reggia di Caserta“)
Marco Solari, Locarno Festival President and Carlo Chatrian, Artistic Director will be present Saturday October 21th at the Royal Palace of Caserta for the inauguration of the personal exhibition by Ibitocho Sehounbiatou, main character of the documentary IBI by Andrea Segre, screened at Locarno70 in the Fuori Concorso section.
In occasion of the documentary’s Italian release planned for October 19th, the Art Exhibition will take place from October 21th to the 28th and will be entirely dedicated to the Ibi’s art: three sections (Self-portraits, Photomontages, Reality), which include 40 masterpieces, realized in collaboration with Movimento Migranti and Caserta’s Refugees and with the sustain of Printmateria in Treviso. It is the first time in Italy welcoming an exhibition by an irregular migrant artist.
The opening ceremony takes place on October 21th at 7.30 pm and will be presented, in addition to Chatrian and Solari, by the film’s director Andrea Segre, Salami Taiwo Olaywola – Ibi’s husband – and her relatives, the Royal Palace of Caserta Director Mauro Felicori, representives of the Movimento Migranti and Caserta’s Refugees, Caserta’s Mayor Carlo Marino and a delegate of Rai Cinema.
The welcoming speeches will be followed, at 8.30 pm, by the screening of IBI by Andrea Segre, which at the same time will be shown at the San Marco Theater in Caserta. At approximately 9.30 PM, the evening will continue with the official inauguration of the art exhibition.
The exhibition has been curated by Matteo Calore and Andrea Segre, screen player of the film IBI, produced by JoleFilm with RaiCinema and in collaboration with ZaLab.
