Locarno Industry Academy International in South America
Since 2015 the Locarno Industry Academy International initiatives in South America have been facing great development, with the aim to explore the continent, where indie cinema has incresingly acquired a relevant place in the international landscape.
The third edition of the Morelia-Locarno Industry Academy International (Mexico), organized in collaboration with IMCINE, will take place from October 22th to 26th at the 15th edition of the Festival de Cine Internacional de Morelia.
Among the speakers the Academy will welcome: Pierre Menahem (Still Moving, France), Miguel Rivera (Cinepolis, Mexico), Richard Peña (former Director Film Society of Lincoln Center & NYC IFF, USA), Louis Balsan (Films Boutique, Germany) and many more.

Since this year the Locarno Festival has also launched two new Industry Academy International programs in South America, in Chile and Brazil.
The Valdivia-Locarno Industry Academy International (Chile), organized with the support of Pro Chile, will take place at the Australab del FICValdivia, from October 11th to 13th and will welcome, among its keynote speakers, Florencia Schapiro (Lat-e cine, Argentina), Bruno Bettati (founder and producer at Jirafa, Chile) Paula Astorga (Circo 2.12, Mexico) as well as Rémi Bonhomme (Semaine de la Critique de Cannes, France).

The Sao-Paulo Locarno Industry Academy International (Brazil), organized with the support of Cinema do Brazil, will take place from October 24th to 29th within the Mostra de cine de Sao Paulo. This very first edition will welcome as guests: Bobby Allen (Head of Content a MUBI, UK), Ryan Kampe (Visit Films, USA) and, as for the Chilean edition, Paula Astorga.

Each of the Locarno Industry Academy International programs, welcomes participants from the whole continent of South and Central America while offering programs with both a strong international character, and at the same time facing regional and national matters of film distribution, by exhibiting and proposing new models related to these subjects.
