Bohdan Zhuk is a programme coordinator for the Kyiv International Film Festival Molodist, Ukraine’s biggest film event (48th edition to take place in 2019). With an education in linguistics and professional background as translator, journalist and radio host, he joined the Molodist team in 2014 as a press attaché and programmer. He’s programming feature competition and non-competition sections of Molodist and curates its LGBTQ programme Sunny Bunny, Ukraine’s oldest regular queer-themed event (since 2001). Under his curatorship, it expanded into a competition of fiction features and non-competition screenings of documentaries and classics, and developed partnerships with the country’s leading LGBTQ organizations, Equality festival (held in several cities), and Kyiv Pride. Zhuk also manages international events of Molodist dedicated to Ukrainian films: programmes at festivals – Encounters (UK), BEAST (Portugal), and Ukrainian film days abroad. He also works in communications (British Council Ukraine), writes articles about cinema, and translates films for national releases.
