Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s work centers around human rights and women’s issues. She has worked with refugees and marginalized communities from Saudi Arabia to Syria and from Timor Leste to the Philippines. Her films include Saving Face (2012) and A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness (2015), which both won an Academy award for Best documentary – Short subject. In 2009, she shot the TV documentary Pakistan’s Taliban Generation, which was broadcast on HBO, CNN, PBS and Channel 4, among others.
