Julio, a young fisherman, leaves his village to go to Manila, where he hopes to find his fiancée Ligaya, who went there for her studies and from whom he hasn’t heard anything. In order to make a living, he gets a job as a worker on a construction site, but he will soon discover the slums of the Filipino capital.

Restored in 2013 by the World Cinema Foundation and the Film Development Council of the Philippines at Cineteca di Bologna/L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory, in association with LVN, Cinema Artists Philippines and Mike de Leon. Restoration funding provided by Doha Film Institute.
