Histoire(s) du cinéma: Pardo alla carriera Fredi M. Murer
Höhenfeuer (Alpine Fire)
Murer deconstructs the Alpine idyll, locating in the spectacular landscape a Greek tragedy of love and death, with clearly drawn characters that stand out like archetypes for the contemporary world.
I wanted to tell this story in a linear fashion, like the Greek tragedies where you knew in advance what was going to happen. I cannot conceive of a purely geographic Heimatfilm. What I see is far more a succession of images taken from a living camera, which through the limitations of the image only becomes whole in the viewer’s imagination.Fredi M.
