Histoire(s) du cinéma: Excellence Award SONG Kang-ho

Gisaengchung  (Parasite)

South Korea  ·  2019  ·  DCP  ·  Color  ·  132'  ·  o.v. Korean

Ki-taek’s family is unemployed, and takes an interest in the lifestyle of the wealthy Park family. One day, their son manages to get a recommendation to teach English in the Park household...

Shortly before leaving for Cannes, while taking questions from the press, Bong Joon-ho stated that Parasite could not win the Palme d’or, on account of its being too intrinsically Korean to be fully understood by foreigners. On the other hand, he said, his cast – he didn’t specify which members − had solid chances for the acting awards. A few days later, Bong got Song Kang-ho to join him on stage as he received his prize from Catherine Deneuve.
